Traditional Tourtiere recipe

This recipe makes 2 pies. They freeze really well.

2 lbs lean ground beef

2 small red onions chopped

4 cups bread cubed into small pieces

4 packets beef boullion

Salt and pepper to taste

Crust (you can make your own from a pie mix or buy the ready made from the supermarket. I use Robin Hood Pie Crust Mix) – I make my own and add paprika and a cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the mix.

Cook ground beef and onion in skillet until completely cooked through. Add boullion and 1.5 cup of water. Mix. Add in bread cubes – mix again until bread is completely coated.

Make your pie crusts (this recipe is enough for 2) fill each crust with 1/2 the meat filling cover with the top of the crust. Pinch the edges.

Cook for 45 mins uncovered at 350. If you plan on eating later cover with 2 layers of tinfoil and place in the freezer. When ready to serve defrost in the fridge overnight before cookikng.

I serve this with mashed potatoes and beef gravy!
