The Kerr Street Cafe is about a love for delicious, healthy food and a relaxing environment. The Cafe is a joint venture between Alex Flye of Flye Catering – “Oakville to Muskoka” and Shaun Waitzer, a New Zealand import and avid surfer.
Alex has been catering for over 20 years and has worked throughout Ontario and the US. During the summer Flye Catering works around the clock in Muskoka serving clients by boat and organizing beautiful parties and weddings. After years of juggling out of a small commercial kitchen it was time to expand and so the cafe was born to serve in-house and create a beautiful space to service the catering business. Flye catering creates some of the tastiest food you will ever try and the presentation and professionalism is second to none. The food is always evolving and presented in the most artistic manner, while flavor and freshness are never compromised. Flye Catering has developed a loyal following over the years and is a pleasure to work with. Clients can pop into the cafe to discuss parties and catering menus with Alex or call for an appointment.
Shaun has also been catering and in the food industry for years: managing a cafe in New Zealand prior to moving to Canada and an expert coffee roaster. His love of coffee and appreciation for the art of roasting has inspired him to create the perfect “flat white” a popular coffee in New Zealand that is similar to a cappuccino but much smoother and creamier. On his days off you will often see Shaun driving down to the lake with his surfboards in tow…surfing the icy waters of lake Ontario on some of the coldest days of winter and entering into Ontario Surf Club competitions. Pop into the Cafe for a flat white or take a coffee to go….Kerr Street Cafe also roasts their own coffee which can be purchased by the pound.The background between these two entrepreneurs is what helps give the Cafe a laid back feel where clients enjoy fresh, healthy,
delicious food and the best coffee in Oakville! Having a meal at Kerr Street Cafe is the perfect escape and once you try it you will be sure to go back often. Customers can also purchase delicious frozen meals, soups and granola to take home. Their bountiful freezer is always stocked full of delicious options to feed your family or to serve while entertaining guests at home. Kerr Street Cafe will also deliver prepared meals to your home to take to the chalet or cottage and customers can pre-arrange to have these waiting for them when they arrive home from work.The staff at Kerr Street are friendly and go out of their way to make your experience so enjoyable that word has spread and they now have a loyal following of clients. Open Tuesday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch families, friends and business associates gather to enjoy such meals as Huevos Rancheros (eggs, fresh salsa, guacamole, cheese, sour cream and chorizo on a flax seed tortilla) or Eggs Benny on sweet corn fritters. Lunch might consist of a pulled pork sandwich, panini sandwich, soup or choose from a nice selection of fresh salads….and for dessert, the Kerr Street Cafe pastry chefs never disappoint!
