It’s summertime and the living is easy, right? Well, the summer camps, baseball games, swimming lessons and family functions, have all proved that theory wrong – it’s still an enjoyable time, but we still find ourselves rushing around as much as ever. Fast food was definitely created for schedules like this, but we all know that there are typically prices to pay for the convenience – the same old choices and lack of healthy options come to mind. *Yawn…*
Recently after one golf lesson and on the way to another baseball game, we stopped into our local South St. Burger to ‘fuel up’. Admittedly, this is one faster food restaurant I don’t mind going to – I’m a big fan of burgers that don’t contain hormones or antibiotics (why can’t they all be like that?) and I love that there are other great alternatives as well, including grilled chicken and veggie burgers. Plus, it’s nice to have some more interesting topping options outside of the usual suspects.
Admittedly, I’m a bit of a creature of habit and tend to order the same things most of the time – but this time, being close to Canada Day, my inner-Canadian kicked in and I ventured off the beaten path to try out their new True North signature burger. All I can say is… thanks, Canada! I loved that I could customize it with a smaller sized burger, a whole wheat bun, and even add some lettuce & tomato as well. Seriously, cheese & bacon, with maple-infused onions and a chipotle sauce… can you say ‘YUM’?? Even my picky 9-year old wanted to try it out and gave it a huge thumbs-up!
They have three other new signature burgers including The Hawaiian (ginger glazed pineapple and wasabi mayo, anyone?), The Nacho (guacamole, tomato salsa and jalapeno sour cream… Olé!) and The Mushroom & Swiss (need I say more?) and if you don’t like any of the toppings, you can customize it to your perfect burger. Big or small burger; whole wheat, white or gluten-free bun; chicken, veggie or beef burger; and countless topping options – definitely heaven for any burger fan!
